Chapter 2: The Shadow of Time

Fiona… Fiona!  Hey Fiona, I was just wondering if you wouldn’t mind me hanging around your house for awhile.  Fiona?  Where are you?”

Seyloren walks around the house a bit and finds no sign of Fiona.  After a few moment of silence a loud thump is heard from upstairs.  Seyloren rushes up the stairs to see a bright flash come from an opened room.  He cautiously peers into the room to see a Fiona laying prostrate on the ground and a large shadow creeping towards her.  He tries to enter the room, but there was a force in the doorway that leaves him helpless and only able to watch.  The shadow surrounds Fiona and then seems to absorb into her.  Fiona trembles a bit on the ground then stops.  Seyloren screams at the top of his lungs and punches at the doorway with all of his might and rage.  Suddenly the force leaves the room and Seyloren rushes into it to help Fiona.  Fiona gets up before he can get to her and when she turns to him he notices that she looks different.  Her eyes are wider and brighter, she is about 2 inches taller, and it appears that she has aged about 2 years in the time span of a minute.  Seyloren can not contain his tears and leaps to give his dearest friend a hug.  Seyloren was not expecting Fiona to move, nor did he see her, but when he wraps his arms around her, she isn’t there.  Seyloren falls to the floor and rolls over confused and perplexed.

“Seyloren, you are my closest friend, and after 2 years trapped in the Shadow of Time I have finally awakened from my sleep.  You see, to you it has been merely seconds, but I have aged 2 years.  The vast universe of Time is a grand one.  I terribly missed your company, as there is no one else in Time.  However, while stuck in the void, I decided that all I had to do while I was alone was to train.  Whenever I thought of something it was immediately produced in front of me.  I had access to all sorts of weapons and anything I could think of was at my disposal.  As you can see, I have grown.  I remember the exact moment that the Shadow of Time took over me, and I remember seeing you there.  This comforted me while I was stuck in Time and I did whatever I could to occupy my time until I was finally released.  You see, while I was stuck in Time, with anything I could think of at my disposal, I mastered many techniques and skills that would take people years to accomplish.  As you’ve already seen, I can create illusions.  I also discovered a chest in Time in which I was allowed to place one item of my choice.  This chest was an exact replica of the chest in the corner of my room.  Please open it for me.”

Seyloren locates the chest and opens it.  Inside of the chest is a beautifully crafted Alika Sword.  This sword is a form of long sword that is extremely light, but also very large.  It is made from a very rare ore called Karonite that is as light as a feather, but harder than diamond.  The hilt is decorated with a golden lace ribbon and a dark blue lace ribbon.  The blade is about 4 feet long and 4 inches wide and slightly resembles that of a scimitar.  The blade however contains small barbs to catch and rip anything it touches, so the blade must be used by a skilled person or else injuries are almost a guarantee.

“Is this yours?  This is such a rare blade; I hope that you were able to train with it unhurt.”

Fiona quickly lifts the sword from the chest and swiftly swings it around herself and Seyloren in a way that proves her mastery of the sword, narrowly missing each of them.  This quickly ends his doubt of her skills and he heads out of the room.  Fiona looks over to him and slowly lowers her head.  A small tear wells up in her eye and falls to the floor.  She wipes her eye and follows Seyloren out of the room.  Fiona follows Seyloren down the stairs from her room and, in an uncontrollable fit of joy and sadness, she hugs him from behind crying “I missed you so much!”

Fiona continues to cry for 20 minutes and Seyloren stays and comforts her.  Fiona finally gets up and asks if Seyloren would leave now but come back tomorrow when she feels better.  Seyloren leaves hesitantly but not without leaving her a small kiss on the cheek.  As Seyloren is leaving the house Fiona places one hand on her cheek then begins to sob slowly.  “Why did this have to happen?”  She says to herself.

Outside of the house Seyloren is distressed and unsure what he is supposed to do with what just happened.  He decides to keep it to himself until tomorrow when he visits her again.  Seyloren is so distressed that he doesn’t notice the glow from his hands.  However, one hand is yellow, the other purple.

Chapter 2 will come... maybe:D
